Spotlight

I finally got around to seeing the movie Spotlight and thought it was very good. But frankly I'm surprised it wasn't more controversial. I thought it made very clear that the Catholic Church is a criminal enterprise, the way it freely enabled pedophiles to keep attacking children.

Unfortunately there are too many people who have made a deal with the Catholic Church to give them eternal life in exchange for a few prayers and weekly Mass attendance, and if it turns out that you have to sacrifice some children in order to keep the deal going, well, that's what you have to do. Eternal life is a pretty big fucking deal.

On the other hand, you don't need to be a member of the Roman Catholic Church in order to hang onto Magic Jesus - plenty of people have considered themselves non-Catholic Christians, entitled to make deals for eternal life since 1517.

There's no excuse to remain a member of a criminal organization that uses its wealth and power to try to destroy women's bodily autonomy. None.
